The beach of Cala Violina is perhaps the most beautiful bay in the whole of Tuscany, whoever was there was certainly not surprised when in 2004 and 2005 this small great jewel of the Tyrrhenian Sea was awarded by Legambiente as one of the 11 beaches most beautiful of the entire Italian peninsula. The beach owes its name to the particular nature of the fine white sand that distinguishes it, so particular as to reproduce a sort of “violin sound” when you walk on it with bare feet; closed between two headlands covered with Mediterranean scrub, Cala Violina is also known for its transparent waters and the seabeds of rare beauty, formed by banks of Posidonia Oceanica and boulders of sandstone, among which you can meet fish of all sizes. The beach of Cala Violina is located in the heart of the Bandite di Scarlino Nature Reserve in the province of Grosseto, the Bandite are a large forest complex between Castiglione della Pescaia, Gavorrano, Scarlino and Follonica.
We recommend seeing Calaviolina beach early in the morning before it fills up with bathers and is covered with umbrellas and beach towels.
Before arriving you have an interesting passage from the famous CALACIVETTE, a beach that remains to the left of the Civette Tower
We remember that we have absolutely inflexible rules of navigation and mooring.
Distance from the coast 250 mt (often marked by red buoys) and it is not allowed to approach the beach even briefly to get people off.
Easy mooring with sandy bottom, but be careful not to moor the red buoys in line (forbidden) as the presence of the catenary that unites them will anchor the anchor without many exits (unless you are able to dive at about 7 meters)
After the beach of Cala Violina, continuing towards Follonica, you will find another cove, (CALAMARTINA), a nice and not very busy pebble beach, interesting for having a little privacy … or for a stop less polluted by human beings …
